ZAL Vs MTA Dream11 Match Preview
Injuries are the name of the game for both Maccabi and Zalgiris at the moment, as key players on both squads are either uncertain or unavailable altogether for the first game of Round 17. Zalgiris overcame its absences last week and won its first game since Round 6. Maccabi was defeated its last time out, but the loss came both against first-place Efes and on the heels of five straight victories. Maccabis record is far better than Zalgiris, but Thursdays matchup could be more even than expected if some absences continue and others do not.
Zalgiris won just 4 games and lost 12. They are not able to get the momentum. They looked a bit rusty in ball handling which leads to a lot of turnovers in every match.

Injured Players News
Tarik Black – OUT Knee Black (knee) could be out anywhere from six more weeks to three more months, according to teamscout.net. It was announced earlier on Wednesday that Black would miss another month of action, but Black himself revealed that he will be out longer than that. Othello Hunter will presumably serve as Maccabis top center in Blacks absence, and given the length of Blacks absence, the team could pursue another player to provide more depth down low.
Omri Casspi – OUT Knee Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv announced on Wednesday that Casspi (knee) will remain sidelined for at least one more month, Eurohoops.net reports. Both Casspi and Tarik Black will be shut down through late January with neither player showing much improvement in his recovery from a knee injury. The loss of Casspi who will continue to undergo physical therapy before being re-evaluated in four weeks is especially crushing, as the 31-year-old had been averaging 10.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 17.9 minutes per game through his first seven EuroLeague outings.
John Di Bartolomeo – OUT Pectoral Di Bartolomeo is expected to miss up to six months with a torn pectoral muscle suffered in Thursdays victory over Bayern Munich, according to Maccabis official website. Di Bartolomeos timeline all but rules him out for the season and will leave Maccabi without its captain and dependable guard off the bench. His absence — coupled with that of fellow guard Nate Wolters (hip)– figures to open up opportunities for youngsters Yovel Zoosman, Elijah Bryant, and Deni Avdija.
Othello Hunter GTD – Undisclosed Hunter did not play in Sundays domestic league game due to an injury, according to Josh Halickman of The Jerusalem Post. Its not clear why Hunter sat out on Sunday, but head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos, via TalkBasket, recently expressed concern about Hunters workload, so its possible he was simply getting a rest. Hunters status will be updated again before Maccabis next EuroLeague game on Thursday if it is revealed whether or not he will take the court.
Aaron Jackson GTD – Personal Jackson (personal) isnt expected to join Maccabi Tel Aviv until next weelk, Eurohoops.net reports. Jackson had been playing in the Chinese Basketball Association this season before receiving his release earlier this month and quickly landing a deal with Maccabi. Though the lsraeli club is dealing with numerous injuries and could certainly use some extra depth ahead of Thursdays Round 16 match with Anadolu Efes, Jackson has received permission to remain in the United States this week following the recent birth of his child. The 33-year-old is expected to make his 2019-20 EurolLeague debut in Maccabis Round 17 matchup with Zalgiris on Jan. 2.
Jalen Reynolds – GTD – Coachs Decision Reynolds has signed a contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv through the rest of the EuroLeague season, according to eurohoops.net. Reynolds will head back to Europe after stints in China, and most recently the G-League, this season. He has proven he can be an impactful player, and he could play a role immediately for his new team with Tarik Black (knee) out for an extended period.
Scottie Wilbekin – GTD – Ankle Wilbekin (ankle) did not play in Maccabis domestic league game Sunday, according to Josh Halickman of The Jerusalem Post. Wilbekin tweaked his ankle in Maccabis last EuroLeague game, and the injury cost him at least one game. It remains to be seen if it will cost him any more action, but consider Wilbekin questionable for Maccabis next EuroLeague game on Thursday.
Nate Wolters – OUT Hip Wolters is expected to miss six weeks with a hip injury suffered in Thursdays victory over Bayern Munich, according to Maccabis official website. Wolters timeline rules him out for the rest of 2019 and will force Maccabi to replace a player who has started every EuroLeague game from Round 2 onward. With Wolters out a while, and fellow guard John Dibartolomeo (pectoral) likely done for the season, expect Maccabis younger guards– Yovel Zoosman, Elijah Bryant, and Deni Avdija to get more opportunities to show what they can do.

ZAL Vs MTA Dream11 Top Picks
Scottie Wilbekin – Wilbekin will be the best available option on Thursday if he takes the court, but with him missing the last five quarters Over the last two games Maccabi played, thats certainly a big “if.” Those hoping to include Wilbekin in Thursdays lineups will want to keep a close eye on his status prior to tip-off.
Thomas Walkup – Zalgiris has needed Walkup to play a bigger role lately and he has thrived, averaging 12.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.2 steals over the last five EuroLeague games. Those numbers make him a prime candidate to occupy the captains spot in Thursdays contest if Wilbekin is unable to play.
Othello Hunter – Hunters availability for Thursdays game is uncertain, but he will be more than worthy of a roster spot if he takes the court. Since taking over as the regular starting center in Round 13 Hunter has averaged 14.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He should garner consideration for the captains role should he play and Wilbekin sit.
Zach LeDay – LeDay ceded some scoring opportunities to Jock Landale over the last few weeks, but he took advantage of Landales absence last week and scored his most points since Round 3. Its not yet clear if Landale will play Thursday, but if he does not, expect LeDay to be plenty busy again.
